Jamie Milligan’s penalty kick in the dying minutes saw Bamber Bridge get out of jail and earn an NPL First Division North point in a 1-1 draw at Colne.

It was the visitors that went in ahead at the break, courtesy of Alex Curran’s goal.

And Colne held on to their lead well until a minute from time when Milligan drew Brig level after Alistair Waddecar was brought down inside the box.

Elsewhere in the division, Clitheroe were beaten 2-1 at home by Goole AFC, and Kendal Town were 1-0 winners at Droylsden, Gareth Arnison on target from the spot.

In the NPL Premier Division, Lancaster City held hosts Shaw Lane to a 0-0 draw.

In the National League, AFC Fylde remain in the play-off places despite a disappointing 1-0 defeat at struggling Maidstone United.

Stones midfielder Blair Turgott capitalised on Simon Grand’s first-half mistake to score the only goal of the
game.

In the NWCL Premier Division, Charnock Richard lost 2-0 at home to Runcorn Linnets, while Burscough’s Macron Cup semi-final first leg at Irlam ended 0-0.

Southport suffered their fourth defeat in a row when they were beaten 2-0 at second placed Harrogate Town.

Harrogate opened the scoring in the fourth minute when a defensive mistake let in Joe Lessley to cross the ball for Mark Beck to slot home.

Southport’s best chance came in the 44th minute when Dion Charles’ shot towards an open goal was cleared off the line by James Belshaw.

Harrogate were in control for most of the game and George Thompson sealed the win for them in the 58th minute. Southport remain in 14th position in the National League North table.
