Table-topping Lancaster City produced one of their best performances of the season to see off NPL First Division North promotion rivals Ossett Town 3-1 on their own patch.
The hosts had already beaten City at Giant Axe earlier in the season but Phil Brown’s team are now a different proposition and won comfortably on the day.
The Dolly Blues raced into a three-goal lead through Thomas Kilifin (21), Jacob Gregory (34) and a Jordan Connerton penalty (48).
Steven Ridley scored a last-gasp consolation goal for the home side.
Elsewhere in the division, the weather put paid to Bamber Bridge’s game at Clitheroe, and Kendal Town’s home clash with Tadcaster Albion.
The only other local action saw Burscough beaten 2-0 at home by Hyde United, Matthew Beadle (18) and Christopher Sutherland (81) doing the damage.
Southport plunged further into National League relegation trouble when they were beaten 1-0 at home by Chester.
The first half was goalless although Tom Shaw hit the bar for Chester and saw another on-target shot saved by Magnus Norman.
In a match between two mediocre teams, it was an intelligent lob by Chester midfielder Evan Horwood that secured the three points for his side in the 67th minute.
Horwood collected a clearance from his keeper, saw keeper Norman well off his goalline and coolly lobbed the ball over him into the net for the winner.
In the National League North, top-of-the-table AFC Fylde romped to a 3-1 home win over Tamworth.
Steve Williams, Danny Rowe and Andy Bond got the Coasters’ goals, with Dan Newton replying.
