In the FA Trophy third qualifying round, AFC Fylde returned to winning ways with a well-deserved 2-0 victory at Warrington Town.
Emphatic finishes from Danny Lloyd and a first of the season for Caspar Hughes sealed the Coasters’ route into the first round proper of the competition.
Dave Challinor’s side were the dominant force all afternoon at Cantilever Park and the score-line could have been far greater if not for Warrington keeperer Karl Wills.
After a winning start to his managerial career at Southport last week, Dino Maamria saw his side beaten by the only goal at Eastleigh on Saturday, leaving them still in 21st position in the National League.
Eastleigh started brightly and Andy Drury put the ball in the net after James Constable hit the post, only for the referee blew for offside.
Two fine saves by Southport’s man of the match, keeper Max Crocombe, plus an on-the-line clearance by Paul Rutherford, kept the Sandgrounders in the game.
But they never looked like scoring.
And, in the 84th minute, Josh Payne took the ball off substitute Charlie Joyce and crossed for Drury to give his side the three points.
