As the title race hots up, AFC Fylde boss Dave Challinor urged his men to win their final two games and put the heat on league leaders Barrow.

Fylde are second in the Conference North table and two points off table toppers Barrow with just two games left.

The Coasters need to beat Harrogate Town tomorrow and require Barrow to slip-up against play-off chasing Tamworth if they are to regain poll position.

And Challinor hopes the Lambs can cause an upset.

He said: “We are looking forward to it. It is an important weekend as we know we need to win both of our last two games and see where that takes us.

“We will be checking the other results come 5pm but we know what we have to do.

“I hope Tamworth do us a favour and beat Barrow.”

Tomorrow’s opposition Harrogate Town were favourites to top the table at the start of the season.

But despite their lowly 13th-placed position, Challinor is not underestimating them.

He said: “They were one of the teams tipped to be up at the top at the beginning of the season.

“They have a big budget but it goes to show that buying the best players doesn’t always work out.

“We got beaten by them at home earlier in the season.

“It is a difficult place to go we know we have to go there and produce a performance.”

And Challinor believes Danny Lloyd’s late winner against Bradford Park Avenue on Monday night could be crucial to their title challenge.

He said: “For us Monday was massive.

“It put the pressure on Barrow.

“I always fancied them to beat North Ferriby United at home on the Tuesday – which they did - but if we hadn’t of won on Monday we would have been out of contention.

“It was a difficult game to go up there to Bradford and to win was fantastic.”

Challinor is thrilled with the position his men find themselves in.

He said: “We are in an unbelievable position. If I’d had said I imagined us challenging for the title at the start of the season I’d have been lying. In realistic terms I’d have been happy at the start of the season to finish in the play-offs.

“Now we are guaranteed a play-off spot and we can still win the title.”
