Ex-PNE star is Longridge’s new boss

Longridge Town FC have appointed former Preston North End striker Lee Ashcroft as player manager.

The former forward striker began his career at Deepdale in 1987 and went on to play for West Bromwich Albion, Notts County, Grimsby Town, Wigan Athletic, Port Vale, Huddersfield Town and Conference Club Southport.

He ended his career with a Kendal Town before becoming manager at Parkside Road for a six-year period from 2006 to 20012, before taking charge of Northwich Victoria.

Chairman of Longridge Brian Parkinson said: “We are looking forward to building a strong team for the forthcoming season. the club is delighted that Lee has joined us.”
