Elsewhere in the division, Southport’s game at home to Salford City fell victim to the weather.

AFC Fylde’s National League trip to Barrow was also washed out but they
will try again tonight (kick-off 7.45pm).

And in the NPL First Division North, a waterlogged pitch saw Bamber Bridge’s game at Skelmersdale postponed.

The same fate befell Clitheroe’s home date with Colne, and Kendal’s match at South Shields was also called off.

There was some action in the NPL Premier Division though.

Lancaster City travelled to Workington, even though kick-off was delayed 20 minutes by a broken down coach.

The Dolly Blues went down 2-0 at Borough Park, Matthew Douglas (69) and Robert Wilson (89) on target for the home side.

In the NWCL Premier Division, both games involving local sides were victims of the heavy rain.

Charnock Richard had been due to travel to AFC Liverpool , with Burscough at Squires Gate.

Indeed the whole NWCL programme for bank holiday Monday was wiped out.
