A night to celebrate PNE legend Sir Tom

A charity night remembering the life of Preston North End and England legend Sir Tom Finney will be held at UCLan on Thursday.

Peter Higham and Eric Jones, who were team-mates of Sir Tom at Deepdale, will share their stories of him.

There will be a screening of Sir Tom’s ‘This is your Life’ programme from 1988.

Preston-born Jones who was an understudy to Sir Tom at PNE, said: “It was an honour and privilege to play and train alongside Sir Tom during the 1950s.

“Sir Tom was such a good football ambassador for both Preston and England and I’m looking forward to reminiscing about him.”

The event , in partnership with the PNE Former Players Association, starts at 7pm and tickets cost £10 with proceeds going to several charities.

There will be a football quiz, hotpot supper and musics from acoustic duo Darren Jackson and Ben Ainsworth.

It takes place at UCLan’s Mitchell and Kenyon Theatre in the Foster Building.
