England defender Phil Jones has signed a new deal with Manchester United.
Jones, who joined the club from Blackburn Rovers in 2011, will now stay at Old Trafford until at least June 2019.
The United star was born in Preston, and grew up in Clayton-le-woods. He attended Balshaw’s CE High School in Leyland, and also played for the Ribble Wanderers Under-10s.
Manchester United announced the new deal on their official Twitter page, saying: “We’re pleased to announce @PhilJones4 has signed a new contract, keeping him at #mufc until at least June 2019.”
Jones has 17 senior England caps and has also represented his county at Under-19s and Under-21s level.
He started his career at Rovers and progressed to their senior side from the academy in 2009 before spending two more years at Ewood Park before switching to Old Trafford.
