After a poor run of form with four defeats in five matches, the Shrimps returned to winning ways at Prenton Park.
Victory was achieved thanks to a second-half Adam Phillips penalty with Adams saying his players were worthy winners.
He said: “The way we passed the ball and the way we defended made it a top League Two performance.
“We were by far the better team and we should have won by more goals.
“We probably had 60 per cent possession, created a lot of chances and should have had a penalty in the first half.
“Overall it was probably one of the best performances of the season so far.
“All over the park the lads were excellent. The back four looked solid all afternoon and Jake Turner is continuing to grow in confidence all the time.
“It was a very big performance. We knew Tranmere were under a bit of pressure and it is never easy coming to a club when that is the case but we dealt with that pressure really well.
“They only really had one chance from James Vaughan when he got some space at the far post but Jake Turner made a great save and it was an excellent win.”
