The 33-year-old defender, who has previously figured for clubs including Bradford City, Shrewsbury Town and Peterborough United, has signed a one-year deal with the Shrimps.

“I’m very happy to get the deal done,” said Knight-Percival, who had been a free agent after being released by Carlisle United at the end of last season.

“There’s always a worry when you are out of contract so I’m glad to have got this sorted and looking forward to joining Morecambe.”

Knight-Percival’s arrival follows that of fellow defenders Stephen Hendrie and Harry Davis as Adams continues to revamp his squad for the new season.

The Morecambe boss added: “Nathaniel is an experienced, natural left-sided centre-half who was part of the Bradford side that got to the League One play-offs a few seasons ago.

“He will be a good addition to the squad and another we look forward to working with.”
