Morecambe came from behind to pick up a deserved point at Home Park.

Jim Bentley’s side found themselves a goal down on the stroke of half-time after gifting Reuben Reid a free run on goal before Jack Redshaw scored his eighth goal of the campaign to clinch the Shrimps’ fourth draw in five games.

Morecambe went a goal down three minutes into first half injury time in a moment defender Andy Parrish will want to forget.

The Shrimps had a free kick which Parrish gave away and the home side countered quickly with Reuben Reid being given a free run on goal to round Andreas Arestidou and place the ball into the empty net.

The goal came as something of a shock after a first half which saw Morecambe produce the better chances. Padraig Amond was the biggest threat and was disappointed to shoot straight at Luke McCormick when put through on goal in the 17th minute.

He was to be denied again on 39 minutes when the home stopper produced a superb save to tip away a looping header that was looking set for the top left hand corner.

Plymouth enjoyed the majority of the possession but were restricted to long range efforts.

An early free kick from Bobby Reid curled inches wide of the left hand post and former Shrimps’ front man Lewis Alessandra twice fired wide before Arestidou saved well at the feet of Reuben Reid.

After the shock of conceding, Morecambe hit back almost immediately after the break. Jamie Devitt swung in a left wing corner, Stewart Drummond flicked on and Redshaw was perfectly placed to head past home from close range.

The Shrimps then continued to press and create the better chances. Redshaw forced substitute keeper James Bittner into a fine save.

The home side hit back but excellent defending from the Shrimps restricted them to more long range efforts from Bobby Reid and Alessandra.

The best chance to seal the points came at the death when Redshaw’s neat flick played in Shrimps’ substitute Kevin Ellison but he stumbled at the vital moment and the chance went begging.
