It is the Magpies’ first Youth Trophy in nearly 30 years.

Under-18s manager Dave Lavery said: “It is a great achievement as we have played against teams with established youth academy set ups such as Chester City, Altrincham and Marine, and come out as Champions.

“It’s been a long season but every week the lads gave everything they had.

“We remained unbeaten at home all season.

“We have given lads a chance who have been released by professional clubs and also made sure that local players formed the core of the 30-player squad.

“There have been lots of great moments but highlights include five players getting Lancashire Under-18s caps, players being offered scholarships in the USA and Jordan Darr being involved with the first team for a number of games this
season.

“We are a direct attacking team, we have an emphasis on a strong defensive unit who have worked hard on playing in the right areas with a fast high pressure tempo, scoring an average of more than four goals a game.

“We have a great team spirit – on and off the pitch.

“For a team that was manufactured, they played like they had known each other for years.

“Teams wanted to come and spoil our season but no matter what intimidating tactics some teams used the lads stuck together, with very mature and disciplined performances.

“I have to thank everyone at Chorley FC for their support, the families of all involved, and my other coaches Paul Huddy, Pedro Montero, Mark Darcy, James Wilson and the kitman Carl Haslam.

“This achievement would not have happened without them.

“Hopefully, they can keep developing and represent Chorley at Under-21s Level and even the first team.

“I hope the success that we have had at Under-18s level will attract even more players to the academy. Future trials will be on our Twitter page ChorleyFC_U18.

“It costs a lot to run this team and every year we need help from sponsors to even run the team.”
