44-year-old Lucketti is a close friend of the former manager and worked alongside Alexander as a youth coach at Preston North End.

37-year-old former Preston midfielder Nicholson played for Fleetwood under Alexander and his predecessor Micky Mellon.

Alexander was sacked on Wednesday following a poor start to the season which has seen Town win just twice in ten League One games.

His departure came after a 5-1 defeat at Gillingham.

The first job for Lucketti and Nicholson will be to solve a defensive crisis - injuries and suspensions leaving the pair with limited options.

The pair took a training session at Poolfoot Farm this morning with fitness coach Youl Mawene also present.
