Lucketti to take charge of Fleetwood Town
Chris Lucketti will take charge of Fleetwood Town for Saturday’s trip to Scunthorpe United.
The former Preston and Bury defender, number two to Graham Alexander, was confirmed at Town’s caretaker boss this morning.
He will be assisted by Barry Nicholson who up to today was tasked with running Fleetwood’s development squad.
44-year-old Lucketti is a close friend of the former manager and worked alongside Alexander as a youth coach at Preston North End.
37-year-old former Preston midfielder Nicholson played for Fleetwood under Alexander and his predecessor Micky Mellon.
Alexander was sacked on Wednesday following a poor start to the season which has seen Town win just twice in ten League One games.
His departure came after a 5-1 defeat at Gillingham.
The first job for Lucketti and Nicholson will be to solve a defensive crisis - injuries and suspensions leaving the pair with limited options.
The pair took a training session at Poolfoot Farm this morning with fitness coach Youl Mawene also present.
