Alexander was sacked from his role as Town manager is September and when new boss Steven Pressley took over the reins in October Alexander’s assistant Lucketti and all of the backroom staff stayed on at Highbury.

Pressley brought in Neil MacFarlane in as assistant manager alongside the 44-year-old ex-centre-half.

But just as Fleetwood’s pre-season begins Lucketti has opted to link-up again with his ex-Preston North End team mate Alexander at Town’s League One rivals Scunthorpe.

Alexander said: “We know each other very well and how we work. He knows what I expect from the players. Chris will be nothing but good for them and the staff. I’m really pleased to get him on board, and would like to thank Fleetwood for their co-operation in letting Chris come to us.”

When Alexander took over the Iron in March after six months out of the game Lucketti remained at Fleetwood and Nick Daws became his assistant manager with Andy Dawson becoming first team coach.

But now Daws will take over the role as first team coach with Dawson taking a role as coach.

And Alexander said he spoke to the duo at the end of the season about bringing Lucketti in.

He said: “I spoke to Nick and Andy at the end of last season about what their thoughts were and they were great with it. They could see the reasoning behind bringing Chris in and will still have massive parts to play in what we do this season.”
