Longridge Town are comfortable winners at Fulwood Amateurs

Lee Ashcroft’s side’s preparations for the new North West Counties League season got off to the perfect start when they went ahead in the 21st minute.

Matty Davidson and Andy Howarth combined on the right to put Joe Melling in.

His shot was parried only as far as Paul Turner, who slotted home from close range.

Taylor wasted a chance to double Town’s lead 13 minutes later when clean through.

But an own goal four minutes before half-time made it 2-0 and gave Fulwood a mountain to climb.

Half-time substitute Mo Awe wasted no time making an impression on his debut.

He nodded home Longridge’s third goal in the 58th minute.

Fulwood had a chance to reduce the arrears from the penalty spot 12 minutes from time but keeper Lee Dovey saved the spot-kick.
