Charnock Richard Under-15s were crowned Lancashire’s best on Sunday – after a thumping 8-1 victory over Tyldesley.
The Lancashire FA County Cup final, played at its own Thurston Road HQ, showcased young footballing talent at its very best.
On a perfect playing surface, it did not take long for Charnock Richard to get into the groove.
They imposed their pleasing passing game on Tyldesley to dominate the early exchanges and opened the scoring after five minutes with a well-worked move.
They then doubled their advantage on nine minutes, after squandering several other chances to increase their lead.
Charnock then eased off and Tyldesley came into the game and created some chances for themselves, and were possibly unlucky to go into the break 2-0 down.
The second half started slowly, and against the run of play, Tyldesley put themselves right back into the contest with a well-taken goal.
Then, within a couple of minutes of the restart, Tyldesley had a chance to level the scores, but a great stop by the Charnock keeper his side in the lead.
Charnock then seemed to find another gear and they quickly scored two more goals, to move into a 4-1 lead.
And this only served to spur Charnock on further as they continued to play some excellent football creating many chances, from which a further four goals were clinically added.
When the final whistle went, Charnock had comfortably won.
