Former PNE boss Westley sacked by Newport
Former Preston North End manager Graham Westley has been sacked by Newport County with the Exiles rooted to the bottom of the Football League.
Westley has left Rodney Parade after five months in charge with Newport 11 points adrift of safety at the foot of League Two.
The board of directors met on Wednesday night and decided to dispense with the services of the former Lilywhites boss and his assistant Dino Maamria, who also worked alongside Westley during 13 tumultuous months in charge at Deepdale.
A statement said: “The board of directors would like to place on record its thanks to Graham and Dino for their hard work in challenging circumstances.
“Graham has worked extremely hard in improving standards throughout the club.”
First-team coach Michael Flynn has been named caretaker manager until the end of the season.
Westley replaced Warren Feeney in October 2016 having previously been succeeded as North End boss by Simon Grayson.
