Coutts has been a regular in the Town side throughout his one-and-a-half seasons at the club and even started the Cod Army's game against MK Dons in midweek.

The former Scotland international has played 28 times this season but will see out the remainder of his contract at Salford.

The 32-year-old has made 67 appearances for the Cod Army, including last season's play-off campaign.

On the move, interim head coach Simon Wiles said: "Paul has been a great servant for the football club.

"I've built a great relationship with him over this period that I've been in charge.

"He's a fantastic bloke and we wish him all the best with that.

"He's at the stage in his career where he's going to be wanting to play every minute of every game.

"He's going to get his game time and we wish him all the best with it.

"He's been fantastic for this football club, not just for me but previous managers too. I'm looking forward to seeing how he does at Salford."
