Bamber Bridge have swooped for ex-Preston North End striker Brett Ormerod.
The 38-year-old, who moved from Blackpool to Southampton in a £1.75m deal earlier in his career, has been training with Brig over the last couple of weeks.
Ormerod spent three years with North End between 2006 and 2009, scoring 14 goals.
Brig boss Neil Crowe said: “Brett has been down here for pre-season and looks in very good shape.
“He was at Padiham last season and did well there, so we think he will be a good addition to our squad.
“We have not just signed Brett for his experience, we think he will score goals for us.
“What we have been missing is a 20-goal a season striker and I’m hoping that Brett can be that for us.
“Of course the experience he has gained from his long career will help our younger players.
“We just need something extra to try and get us over the line.
“Two years in a row we have lost in the play-off final, so it is clear that we have been missed something.”
