PNE boss Simon Grayson says Jermaine Beckford may have to undergo knee surgery.
Speaking after today’s 2-0 defeat at Hull City Grayson revealed Beckford will see a surgeon in the next few days.
Beckford picked up the knee injury in North End’s friendly clash against Motherwell and missed the opening four games of the season.
He started on the bench in North End’s league game against Ipswich last Saturday and made a cameo appearance in PNE’s 1-0 victory over Watford on Tuesday night.
But Grayson revealed the striker had a reaction overnight after training on Friday and the injury will require surgery to correct.
He said: “Jermaine trained yesterday. Had a reaction overnight. He has a swollen knee. We will expect him to see a surgeon.
“He will miss game time over the next few weeks possibly months.”
