Peter Grant took charge of Fulham last week for their game at MK Dons.

He had been on Kit Symons’ coaching staff, Symons losing his job earlier this month. Initially, Alan Curbishley took training after Symons’ exit, but Grant was then asked to lead the side. After a playing career with Celtic, Norwich, Reading and Bournemouth, Grant was No.2 at Bournemouth and West Ham. He was in charge of Norwich for a year, and has since coached at West Bromwich, Celtic,Birmingham Aston Villa and Forest.

Graham Horwood from Luton is in charge of PNE’s visit to Fulham.

This is only the second time he has refereed North End, the other occasion being their 2-1 win at Gillingham in October 2013. This is Mr Horwood’s first game in the Championship for more than a year.

56 YEARS AGO: On November 28, 1959, Preston won 3-1 against Luton at Kenilworth Road. Tommy Thompson scored twice and Derek Mayers notched the other. The return fixture with the Hatters at the end of the season was Sir Tom Finney’s final game for North End.

28 YEARS AGO: North End beat Fulham 1-0 at Craven Cottage on November 28, 1987. Their winning goal in the capital came from young striker Nigel Jemson.

16 YEARS AGO: On November 27, 1999, the Lilywhites beat Bury 3-1 at Gigg Lane. In front of a large boisterous away following, the Preston goals came from Michael Jackson, skipper Sean Gregan and Jon Macken.

David Moyes’ men followed that up by beating Enfield 3-0 in an FA Cup replay three days later.
