For the Blues it was two wins from two under new boss David Lynch as they saw off NPL Premier Division outfit Brig.

Striker Conor Gaul scored the only goal of the game late in the second half when taking a Terry Cummings cross first time.

“Conor can be whatever he wants to be,” Lynch told Ribble FM. “It’s been a pleasure to work with some of these young lads because their attitude is first class.

“I’ve been blown away by some of these lads.”

Clitheroe, who beat Hurst Green 3-1 on Saturday, could have been out of sight way before the deadlock was broken.

Danny O’Brien and Gaul squandered good openings, while Markell Foulds saw his header cleared off the line.

“I don’t want to come away with any negatives, but one thing that was apparent is we weren’t ruthless in the final third with the amount of chances we had,” added Lynch.

“I don’t want to be critical of the lads because they’ve been superb to a man, but it could easily have finished four or five.”
