Longridge Town go into their last two home fixtures full of confidence after a thumping 8-0 victory over Eagley last Saturday.
They host Southport Hesketh tonight before finishing with a difficult fixture against Blackpool Wren Rovers – who look likely to win the WLL Premier Division – on Saturday.
Southport are currently 11th in the division and Town will be boosted by the return of Jordan Tucker, Jordan Bowen, Sam Marsh and, hopefully, Cory Bent.
Boss Lee Ashcroft said: “Southport have not had the best of seasons, considering last year they got to the Richardson Cup Final where they lost to Charnock Richard.”
Wren Rovers’ visit to the Mike Riding Ground should be a mouthwatering prospect as the title chasers will be seeking revenge on the only side which has beaten them on their own turf this season. It was back on the opening day that Town won courtesy of goals from Jordan Bowen and former striker Rick Coar.
Ashcroft knows it’s going to be a tough challenge against Rovers, but thinks they deserve to be where they are.
He said: “They’ve got championship quality. They’re a point behind leaders Fulwood and we could help our fellow Prestonians out by getting a win on Saturday.”
Ashcroft is hoping to give the fans something to cheer about on Saturday.
“We’re most certainly the best backed team in the division and we’re thankful to those who have turned up week in, week out in all weather,” he said.
“We want to make our ground a fortress and at times we’ve done that. It will be something we work on next season. If we continue to do so we will continue getting 100-plus fans per game. I talk to the fans and they like what we’re trying to do. We always try to play attacking football and entertain them.”
