Ally is a club great says Crowe after 100th goal

Waddecar believes that he already joined the 100 club earlier this year, but says he is delighted to have officially reached the landmark.

He said: “It was brilliant but I think it was my 101st goal for the club!

“It is a great achievement.

“It is great to reach 100 goals especially after sitting on the sidelines for parts of the season due to the knee injury - which is never nice.”

Crowe heaped praise on Waddecar for his loyalty, and says he only knows of one other player who has scored 100 goals for the club - Andy Whittaker.

Crowe said: “Ally has been a massive player for us ever since he joined six years ago.

“Higher league clubs have tried to sign him but he has always been loyal to the club.

“He has played over 270 games for us and he has always been consistent.

“He was such a big miss when he was out for three months, but we have gone from strength to strength since he has returned.

“He will go down in the history books as one of the greatest players to play for Bamber Bridge. He always gives 100 percent. I can’t speak highly enough of him.”

Brig are in Doodson Cup action at Nantwich Town tonight and travel to relegation threatened Ossett Town on Saturday. Crowe’s men are 13th in the First Division North Table with three games in hand on some of the top five.

And Waddecar says the league is his priority but says he is keen to test himself against Nantwich - who are one division higher than Brig.

He said: “We have never done well in that cup and it will be nice to make it to the next round. But the league is the priority and if we keep playing well I think the play-offs are not out of our grasp.”
