North End have seen some individual errors punished in recent weeks, their first six league games of the season yielding only one victory.

Midfielder Browne doesn’t think a great deal has changed in PNE’s game from last term, it just being that mistakes have crept in.

Browne said: “I don’t think there’s anything missing.

“If you look at most of the goals we’ve conceded they’re errors rather than good goals.

“It’s not like teams have worked around us and really broken us down.

“There have just been some sloppy mistakes in vital areas and at key moments.

“That’s the frustrating thing, teams aren’t really getting the better of us.

“We’re responsible for our own downfall. The mistakes will have to be cut out if we’re going to improve this season.

“You look at the Stoke game and it looks like a better result than last Saturday’s did.

“I felt more comfortable against Stoke than I did in the Bolton game.

“We probably should have put the game to bed.

“It was mistakes that cost us all three points in that game and it was probably the same against Bolton.”

Browne is back with PNE after a calf strain forced him to pull out of the Republic of Ireland squad.

He was injured in training last week ahead of the Irish’s Nations League clash with Wales in Cardiff.

The 23-year-old will also miss tomorrow’s friendly in Poland but PNE team-mates Callum Robinson and Graham Burke should feature.

Robinson started the 4-1 defeat to Wales, with Burke an unused substitute.

North End will be hoping Browne’s recovery is a swift one, with numbers down in midfield due to suspensions to Ben Pearson and Ryan Ledson.

Pearson will missing for the next three games against Reading, Leeds and Sheffield United, with Ledson absent for the first two of those.

Browne found the net in North End’s 2-2 draw against Bolton, that his second goal of the campaign following his opening-day winner.

Having scored nine times last season, he’s got a taste for getting on the scoreline.

“The goal was probably the only positive I could take from the Bolton game,” said Browne.

“Getting another goal and adding to my tally was a big thing for me.

“I want to score more than I have in previous seasons and build on last year.”

Meanwhile, North End are in Lancashire FA Senior Cup first round action tomorrow afternoon (1pm) when they face Blackburn at Brockhall Village.
