Adam Lord: PNE in numbers

Two of Preston North End's marathon men have been given something of a breather in recent games.

Daniel Johnson, 2,259, and Callum Robinson, 2,374, are mainstays of the top five when it comes to minutes played this season.

But the former was replaced at half-time against Cardiff before not kicking a ball against Barnsley, while the latter was a second-half substitute in both games.

It is the latest example of what a squad game it is for Preston this season, with others having a chance in their absence. The team has evolved throughout the campaign, with players seemingly out of contention getting a run in the side as others were taken out of the firing line, meaning plenty have amassed 1,500 minutes or more over the campaign.

Might it be time for Daryl Horgan to get a run in the side out wide?

Alan Browne, who
replaced Johnson at
Oakwell, has also rarely put a foot wrong when called upon, his red card in the EFL Cup at Newcastle aside.

That said, North End haven’t scored in their last two games without Robinson, a player who has shown what a threat he can be through the middle as well as out wide.

It would be no surprise to see him up top with Jordan Hugill on Saturday.
