A product of the Vernon Carus club, the 27-year-old was the leading wicket taker in the County Championship last season.

Bailey’s 64 victims at an average of just 19 saw him impress despite Glen Chapple’s men being relegated to Division Two.

He was named Player of the Year at the club’s annual end of season awards and also collected the Championship Player of the Year gong at the PCA Awards in London.

“I'm delighted to have signed a contract extension with the club I have represented my whole career,” said Bailey, also a former Myerscough College student.

“I am extremely grateful to Lancashire for all their help, support and development they’ve given me since I joined the professional set-up.

“I have grown up through the club's system and playing for the Red Rose means everything to me.

“From a personal point of view, I was delighted with how I performed in last year’s County Championship and I’ll be looking to improve on that again next year.

“Emirates Old Trafford is a special place to play cricket and I’m already looking forward to the new season after another winter of hard work.

"Collectively we share the same ambition to drive the club forwards and challenge for silverware, which is something that we are all very focused on achieving.”

Having come through Lancashire’s Academy and Scholarship programmes, Bailey has played 46 first class matches and taken 155 wickets in total since his debut against Surrey back in 2012.

“We’re delighted that Tom has committed his future to the club,” said head coach Chapple.

“His performances last year were outstanding and it is important he backs that up in 2019.

“He continues to work hard on his game and has reaped the rewards over the last 12 months, particularly in four-day cricket, and we hope he can continue to produce consistent performances for the next three years and beyond for Lancashire.”
