Weekend cricket round-up

Netherfield won by seven wickets at Parkside Road and hold a 48-point over Chorley at the summit.

Chorley were invited to bat first after their hosts had won the toss and were bowled out for 77.

Kyle Dixon was the visitors’ top scorer with 26, while Gayan Maneeshan hit 20.

The pick of the bowlers for Netherfield was Mark Clarkson.

Among his figures of 5-21 was a hat-trick.

Netherfield chased down their target inside 24 overs, putting 80-3 on the board.

Preston were beaten by 71 runs in their visit to Blackpool, who are in third place.

Put in to bat on their home Stanley Park track, Blackpool were 194-9 in 50 overs.

Jitendra Kumar claimed 4-53 for Preston, with Lukman Vahaluwala and Sabbir Patel taking two wickets apiece.

Matthew Houston was the home side’s top scorer with 34.

Preston started their reply well, Geeth Malinda and Sajid Patel putting together a first wicket stand of 42. Malinda went on to make a half-
century, hitting eight fours.

Further down the order, Sabbir Patel hit an unbeaten 29 but wickets ran out for the visitors who were 123 all out.

After a sticky patch of form, Leyland returned to winning ways at Barrow.

They beat their Cumbrian hosts by 54 runs at the Ernest Pass Memorial Ground.

Henry Thompson played a key part in the victory, the opener hitting 70 in their first innings tally of 126 all out.

In reply, Barrow were bowled out for 72 in 37.1 overs.

The wickets were shared out, Karl Cross and David Makinson taking three each, with Steven Pallett and Ross Bretherton both claiming two.

St Annes won their visit to Morecambe by four wickets.

Batting first, Morecambe were 109 all out in 49.4 overs.

Ryan Pearson hit 49 off 81 deliveries, with opener Mark Woodhead scoring 25.

St Annes claimed victory by posting 111-6, an unbeaten 34 by Richard Staines and a knock of 32 from Tom Higson the mainstays on their reply.

Lancaster won their visit to Kendal by four wickets.

They dismissed their hosts for just 69, Charlie Swarbrick returning figures of 6-11.

Kasun Madusanka hit an unbeaten 35 as Lancaster were 70-6 in reply.

Penrith beat Fleetwood by 33 runs at Broadwater.

Garstang strengthened their position at the summit of the Moore and Smalley Palace Shield thanks to victory over second-placed Fulwood and Broughton.

Mark Walling’s men won the Riverside clash by 14 runs and now have a nine-point lead at the top.

F&B won the toss and put Garstang in to bat, the hosts scoring 180-9 in 45 overs.

At the top of the order, Michael Walling struck 70, while Coen Oosthuysen hit 37.

For F&B, Jon Fenton claimed 4-30 and Matthew Smith 2-41.

In reply, the visitors fell short of their target, posting 166-8.

Smith followed up his pair of wickets with a knock of 52, Charlie Rossiter and Amir 
Patel both hitting 19.

Michael Walling took 4-11 and Ian Walling 2-31 to help Garstang claim the victory.

Vernon Carus are pushing hard in third place and are 13 points adrift of Garstang.

They bounced back from being beaten by the leaders the week before, with a win over Longridge.

The victory at Factory Lane saw them leapfrog their visitors in the league table.

Batting first after winning the toss, Vernons were 159-6. Wes Royle struck six fours on his way to 52, that knock coming off 78 deliveries.

David Fisher added 37 and Christians Ash 22 not out.

Rory McDowell took 3-52 for Longridge, with Tom Howarth posting 2-28.

Longridge were 84 all out in reply, their final wicket lost in the 37th over.

Only two of their batsmen made it into double figures, Joshua McDowell scoring 24 and Luke Platt 21.

Joe Allen took 4-21, with Matthew Timms and Adam Parker taking three each,

Great Eccleston won by 78 runs against Freckleton at Bush Lane.

Electing to bat first Great Ecc were 171 all out, most of the runs scored high up the order.

Muhammed Imran-Sadiq scored 44 off 52 deliveries, his fellow opener Matthew Moat hitting 40.

With the ball, Andrew Hogarth claimed 5-32 for Freck and Jacob Holland 4-35.

Freck were bowled out in reply for 93.

Croston saw off Rufford at Westhead Road, winning by six wickets.

Batting first Rufford were 60 all out, with Keith Marsh taking 6-23.

The home side replied with 61-4 to claim victory.

Torrisholme won their visit to Thornton Cleveleys by two runs, posting 192-9 and restricting their hosts to 190-8.
