In normal time Lancaster took the lead after two minutes as Zach Clark tapped in at the far post from a corner.

Chorley equalised 35 minutes later as Jake Cottrell lashed home from 20 yards. The National League North side were level for less than a minute with Lancaster going straight up the other end to take the lead again.

In almost a carbon copy of Cattrell's goal, Craig Carney put the NPL First Division North side back in front.

Chorley were back on level terms in the second half as Darren Stephenson stepped up to take a penalty after Ricky Mercer handled in the box.

The initial tame effort was parried by goalkeeper Mike Hale only for Stephenson to slide in the rebound with 17 minutes remaining.

Wave after wave of Chorley attacks followed but the score remained level with the game going straight to penalties.
