Brownedge St Mary’s High School came away with a number of medals, three North West champions, a second and a third place at the North West Novice Gymnastics competition at Walton-le-Dale High School.
In all, more than 230 gymnasts competed.
Year seven pupil Daniel Duerden came first on the vault and second on the floor.
Another year seven pupil, Luke Williams, was North West champion on the floor.
Megan Pearson from Year 10 performed an exceptionally good first vault, getting good shape in both her flight on and flight off her straddle vault. This earned her the gold medal.
The Year seven girls’ competition had more than 60 gymnasts taking part and Jessica Smith fought off tough opposition and came third on the vault, showing great tension and line in her body.
Annette Higham, Brownedge director of sport, said: “All the gymnasts that competed were brilliant. They performed well and were a credit to the school.”
