In the plan it warned if one hospitality study was correct and 41 per cent of businesses fail by mid-2021, it would mean a loss of £2.5bn to Lancashire and could result in more than 25,000 job losses.

The plan includes, sharing information across the sector; lobbying the government for extra support; inspiring consumer confidence and building the profile of Lancashire; making the county a “must-visit” tourism destination; boosting digital infrastructure for businesses and driving the 2025 City of Culture bid as well as securing funding from nationwide schemes such as Levelling Up.

Rachel McQueen, chief executive of Marketing Lancashire said: “It is critical that we make every effort to support the sector during this extended lock down, and put plans in place to build consumer confidence as soon as we are able to do so, focused on making Lancashire a must-visit destination once travel is allowed.

“Right now, we need practical action plans to help businesses survive and ensure that they are able to generate maximum income when they are able to welcome visitors back in a safe, covid-secure environment.
