When Miss Marjorie Whittle attended St Andrew's Primary School in Ashton, Preston, 50 years ago, she never dreamt that she would end up as its headmistress. But that's just what she went on to do. And now, after spending almost her entire teaching career at the school, Miss Whittle is to retire. The school gave her a rousing send-off
