Police in Chorley issued a public appeal on Sunday (January 31) as part of their investigation into an alleged sexual assault on a 14-year-old girl.

The force shared a CCTV picture of a man they wanted to speak to after the child reported being groped in the Asda superstore in Bolton Street in October last year.

He has not been arrested at this stage, but police say he will be "spoken with" at a later date.

This morning, a police spokesman said: "The man has come forward and will be spoken with in due course."

Chorley Police have now removed the appeal from their Facebook page and have updated the public on their investigation.

The force said: "You may recall our appeal last week to locate a man wanted in connection with a sexual assault in Asda.

"We asked for your help following the incident where a man approached a 14-year-old girl at the superstore on Bolton Street and inappropriately touched her chest.

"We have now identified a man we wanted to speak to. Many thanks to everyone who shared our previous appeal."
