Pupils from Goosnargh Oliverson’s Primary, on Goosnargh Lane, near Preston, have been showing off their skills in the kitchen.

The school council regularly organises activities and the latest idea was a baking competition which saw pupils being asked to produce a mouth-watering cake and take it into school. The children organised their own judging process which saw parents invited in to the school to sample the delights by sharing in the taste testing.

Staff said they were “very impressed” with the response from pupils, and their parents.

The tasty delights ranged from a large rubber duck cake by Lucy Bolton to a colourful offering depicting Harry Potter which won Kyle Ashton first place in the novelty section.

Toby Coar won the overall infant prize and Maisie Blazard was the junior school overall winner.

Youngsters at a village school take the biscuit when it comes to dishing up a tasty treat.
