World cuisine is cooked up for Leyland Food Fayre
Visitors to this month’s Leyland Food Fayre will be spoilt for choice when they stop off at the event’s main courtyard area.
Balfour Court, opposite Leyland Market’s entrance, will be filled with stalls where foodies will be able to feast on a wide range of cuisine.
Favourites from the town including Thindian, the Beijing, Cod’s Plaice and Mumbai Masala will be cooking up street food, starters, finger food, curries, soups and other hot meals for visitors to enjoy.
One of Leyland’s newest eateries, La Corte, will be selling Italian treats such as meatballs and bruschetta as well as wine, lager and Prosecco, next to the live music gazebo so guests can be entertained as they munch on a variety of different snacks.
As well as tempting tastebuds with top Indian, Chinese and English cuisine, the food court will also be the place to find popular Mexican lunches such as burritos and fajitas, as Chorley Market’s Go Mex stand is making a special trip to Leyland for the event.
And food from around the globe will also be the main focus of a business from Clayton-le-Woods which is also coming to the fayre.
Meats of the World is well versed in attending food festivals and markets, and cooks up an exotic range of burgers, sausages and steaks, as well as selling an unusual variety of meats to take home including kangaroo, ostrich, venison, antelope, crocodile, bison and buffalo!
Those more interested in testing out food from closer to home will enjoy the market’s special ‘Taste of Leyland’ sampler stall, offering tasters of cheese, hams, salmon, prawn, sausages, biscuits, cakes and sweets from the well-known local traders.
Anyone with a sweet tooth should also pay a visit to the Zurck Buffet stall, which will be selling pancakes and crêpes with a range of toppings and accompaniments.
The food fayre, organised by the Leyland Guardian with support from South Ribble Council and Leyland Market, takes place on Saturday, August 29, from 10am until 4pm.
There will also be gazebos set up along Hough Lane and children’s activities and entertainment to keep the whole family happy for the day.
HSS Hire and Whittle Jones are also supporting the fayre, and the event is sponsored by the family-run Play Pad in Tomlinson Road.
