A woman who was involved in a two car crash on Penwortham Bypass on Wednesday morning has died.

The woman, who passed away yesterday evening from her injuries at Royal Preston Hospital, has been named by police as Wendy Wall, 51, from Penwortham.

The man who was also involved in the crash is in hospital with critical injuries.

The crash happened at around 10.15am and left both drivers trapped in the two cars. They were then rescued by the fire service using a hearth kit and taken to hospital by ambulance.

The injuries were described as ‘serious’ at the time of the crash by police and the incident caused long delays throughout the day.
