Woman dies after city collision

The incident happened at around 1.15pm on Friday close to traffic lights at the junction of King Street and Common Garden Street.

The woman pedestrian, who was in her 70s, suffered multiple injuries and was died at Royal Lancaster Infirmary shortly after arriving.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

Sgt Tracey Ward from the Road Policing Unit said: “My thoughts are with the woman and her family at this very sad time.

“We need anyone who may have seen the woman crossing the road just before the incident or indeed anyone who may have seen anything that could help to get in touch.”
