Wildlife thriving in Lancashire
Lancashire is a haven for wildlife according to the Canal and River Trust’s annual survey, the Great Nature Watch.
The North West region, which has a thriving network of canals, has accounted for 27 per cent of the overall national sightings reported so far this year.
The Trust’s national ecologist, Mark Robinson, said: “With 226 miles of canal and river to explore in the North West, we weren’t surprised to have so many sightings reported. This truly reflects the rich population of wildlife and wide variety of species the region has to offer.”
The survey continues until the end of August.
