The Preston’s Strongest Man competition drew crowds to the city’s popular Flag Market on Saturday.

Musclebound competitors pitted themselves against each other with a series of strength and stamina tests from the log lift to the truck pull to raise money for the veterans’ charity Bike Tours For The Wounded, which takes injured war heroes on exciting motorbike trips along America’s famous Route 66.

Novices took part in weight-lifting competitions, while more experienced competitors gave it their all pulling a 12-ton van and lifting Mini Cooper cars.

The event was organised by ex-soldier and former strongman champion Greg Dunnings, who forfeited his crown to play host.

He said: “Events like this are getting bigger and bigger.”
