Wedding: Rail trips lead to a happy-ever-after for Sally Green and Owen Maddock

And of course, when it came to choosing a wedding venue, the Georgian manor was the obvious choice. The couple, who live in Leyland, opted for a civil ceremony with an afternoon tea and a barbecue in the evening.They first met in 2011 at work where they shared an occasional train journey. They both left their jobs, at different times, to work in Manchester and once again they became train buddies.

Sally, 46, said: “Our first date was on October 5, 2016, and we got engaged on October 6, 2017. “Owen told me he’d booked for us to have a night away somewhere, which turned out to be Farington Lodge. “He had secretly arranged for our parents to bring our three children to celebrate with us, which was a wonderful surprise.”The wedding favours were Cancer Research pin badges in memory of Sally’s dad, Alan, and Owen’s mum, Cynthia.They love music and going to concerts so all their tables were named after some of the artists and bands they’ve been to see together over the last couple of years. The table plan and table names were all made from old seven-inch vinyl records.

Sally said: “It was the perfect day – informal, a few tears, both happy and sad, plenty of laughter and lots of dancing. “I married my best friend and we were surrounded by our amazing family and our wonderful friends.”Owen, 40, added: “As friends, we’ve been there to support each other through difficult times and developed an amazing friendship.“Now as husband and wife, we are really looking forward to our future together and sharing more enjoyable time together as a couple and with our wonderful families.”
