Met Office issues yellow warning as Lancashire faces 12 hours of rain

Heavy rain is expected to batter the North West from 2pm today until the early hours of tomorrow morning, say Met Office forecasters.
Both Preston and Blackpool are expected to see spells of heavy rain continue to fall until around 3am (Thursday, September 3), with a more than 60% chance of rain every hour during Wednesday afternoon and evening.

Hide AdIn Blackpool today, persistent rain will be accompanied by strong coastal gales, which is likely to persist into the evening.
The Met Office warn that downpours might result in some flooding and travel disruption across the county, with up to 40mm of rain likely across higher ground.
The rain will then clear southward in the late evening/early morning with many areas dry by dawn on Thursday.
The max temp for Preston today is 16°, with a low of 14°. In Blackpool, the max temp is 17° with a low of 14°.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday
Breezy with sunshine and showers on Friday. It will be a similar day on Saturday, but cloudier.
Sunday is set to be largely dry and cloudy, although there is a chance of some heavy showers later on.
