A yellow weather warning has been issued after strong winds and heavy rain were predicted to batter Lancashire.
Forecasters are warning residents to prepare for adverse conditions with coastal areas set to be hit by gusts of wind of more than 65 to 70mph from around 9am on Wednesday November 22.
Heavy rain is also forecast for much of the county with spray and flooding potentially affecting roads causing hazardous driving conditions.
A spokesman for Met Office said: "Gusts of 65 to 70 mph are expected along exposed coasts and over high ground.
"Gusts of 50 mph are possible more widely with some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport likely.
"Winds will gradually ease from the west during the night on Thursday.
"Outbreaks of rain, some of it heavy, will accompany the strong winds and will add to the difficult driving conditions."
The bad weather is expected to pass by 7am on Thursday November 23.
