They have now collected their sponsorship money and handed over the cash to the charity.

Ian Williams, pre-construction director at Warden Construction, said: “Running the London Marathon was one of the biggest challenges of our lives but we all feel it was worth every bit of the effort involved to support such a fabulous charity. The heat on the day made it even tougher for us all but the energy and support from the crowd helped us to keep going. I am so proud of Eloise Craig, Liam Kay, Damian Holmes who joined me and showed such grit and determination to cross the finish line in under six hours and claim their medals. I want to thank everyone who sponsored us and am delighted that the money raised will be put to such good use.”

Emma Russ, fund-raising and communications manager at Galloway’s, said: “The Warden’s team have done an absolutely incredible job at both taking on the challenge of a lifetime and raising an amazing amount of money that will make a life-changing difference to those living with sight loss in the Preston area.

“We invited the runners into Galloway’s to show them first-hand the difference they will enable us to make to blind and partially sighted people. It was brilliant to put this into context for the team and personally say thank you.”

Galloway’s needs to raise over £1m each year to continue its life-changing support for blind and partially sighted people. The charity operates across Lancashire and Sefton with bases in Penwortham, Chorley, Morecambe and Southport.
