Volunteers are being urged to come forward to support Wyre’s tourism, theatres and markets by helping to promote what is on offer.

Council leaders are looking to recruit five volunteers, who are “highly motivated” with “excellent communications skills”.

A local knowledge of Wyre is “highly desirable”, however volunteers will also be required to attend a one-day training course, free of charge.

Additional guidance and mentoring will also be provided.

Volunteers will provide a uniformed presence at Cleveleys promenade and Victoria Road West, Rossall and Fleetwood promenade, Fleetwood Market and Dock Street coach bays, Lord Street, Fleetwood, Poulton Market (Mondays), Garstang Market (Thursdays), Poulton railway station and special events such as galas, carnivals and agricultural shows.

It will involve handing out promotional packs and leaflets, signposting visitors and local residents to services and providing general advice.

A driving licence and your own transport is essential. There is a minimum of two hours’ commitment a week up to November 2014.
