The incident happened at about 10.15pm on August 4th when two men went into the grounds of Danesmoor Nursing Home on Helmshore Road in Haslingden and threw a large wooden bench and two plastic garden chairs at the two Alpacas, named Bill and Ben, in the grounds.

The offenders also entered the animals’ enclosure and chased the Alpacas around with one of the broken legs from the chairs.

Fortunately Bill and Ben, who are brothers and have lived at the home for about 5 years since they were babies, weren’t seriously hurt.

They have both been checked by a vet and given a clean bill of health.

Community Beat Manager PC Claire Scott said: “This unprovoked and mindless attack on two defenceless animals is a disgrace to say the least and we will do all we can to identify these men.

“Bill and Ben are there for the elderly residents to enjoy and this sort of behaviour is simply intolerable. It beggars belief that anyone would find this amusing.
