THE M6 was closed in both directions in the early hours of the morning after a person was spotted on the motorway.
The motorway from junction 27 at Standish and junction 28 at Leyland was blocked for almost around 10 minutes between 1.40am and 1.50am on Saturday in both directions in relation to a person’s safety.
At the time of the incident, North West Motorway Police tweeted: “M6 j27-28 police incident both n/b and s/b currently blocked until we can reach a safe resolution.”
A spokesman later confirmed the incident was “in relation to a person’s safety” but would not comment further.
A spokesman for Highways Agency said: “The North West Motorway Police radioed through asking us to hold traffic while they dealt with something. It was over very quickly. We cannot confirm what had happened.”
