A motorcyclist has lost his fight for life after coming off his bike in three-way crash.
The rider, a 34-year-old man from Newton, sustained serious head and chest injuries after a collision with a Volkswagen Scirocco and a Mitsubishi Shogun at around 2.15pm yesterday.
The man was airlifted to Royal Preston Hospital but died at around 11.30pm last night,
He had been travelling along Kirkham Road on a Suzuki GSXR600 motorbike in the direction of Freckleton from Kirkham.
A police spokesman said: “It is believed that he has braked suddenly after navigating a bend to avoid hitting a slow moving Volkswagen Scirocco vehicle which was about to turn right onto Hillock Lane.
“He came off the white motorbike and hit the floor and the motorcycle has then collided with the Volkswagen Scirocco and a Mitsubishi Shogun.”
Now the police have launched an appeal for witnesses.
Sgt Finn Quainton from the West Division Road Policing Unit said: “This was a very tragic incident where a man has sadly lost his life and my thoughts are with his family at this awfully sad time.
“We are still trying to piece together exactly what has happened and so I would urge anyone who may have seen the motorcycle whilst it was travelling along Kirkham Road, or indeed anyone who may have information about this incident to get in contact with us.”
