Four men have been arrested after a “vicious” attack on a student in the centre of Preston.

Police were called to Cheapside at 4.35am on Saturday, to reports of an unconscious man.

The 22-year-old from Preston was taken to Royal Preston Hospital following the attack, suffering suspected facial fractures, as well as bruising to his face, head and body.

Detective Constable Corina Barton, of Preston Police, said: “This was a nasty attack on someone simply trying to enjoy a night out.

“The victim received serious injuries as a result of this attack and we are appealing to anybody who saw it to contact us.”

“Four men – aged 21, 19, 18 and 18 - have been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and released on police bail.”
