A UCLan student is searching for her lover being sent away to war - but it's all for a film.

Harriet Ball is searching for her leading man to play the part of a soldier going off to war after her on-screen hubby pulled out just last week.

The 18-year-old is studying Screenwriting for Film, TV and Radio at the Preston university and for one of her assignments she has to write, direct, and produce a five minute film.

The film will depict Preston train station in 1940, where Daniel Jones has received his call up papers, much to his girlfriend’s dismay and is leaving to go and fight in the war.

His girlfriend, played by Harriet, eventually runs onto the platform apologising for being so cruel to him over enlisting and after a heated discussion he proposes to her.

Costumes are prepared, extras are primed and permission to use the location given but Harriet is still hunting a willing male to play the Daniel’s part.

“I need to start filming by the end of March but without a lead it’s going to be very difficult,” said Harriet, who lives in student halls at the university.

“I’ve asked around on Facebook but unfortunately I’ve not had much luck. I’m looking for someone ideally between the ages of 18 and 25 and ideally around six foot - just because I already have an RAF costume that will fit them.

“They have to be a confident actor and ready to learn lines so we can start filming as soon as possible.

“I’m hoping to start filming on Saturday, March 18.”
