Two Preston firms smash targets for Rosemere Cancer Foundation

For previous stories on the two firms click here /preston-firm-farleys-backs-rosemere-cancer-foundation-1-8591296 and /preston-workers-cycle-coast-to-coast-for-rosemere-1-8764921Farleys Solicitors had pledged to raise £10,000 for Rosemere Cancer Foundation’s 20 Years Anniversary Appeal but a tally up of funds shows they have smashed this total by almost £2,000 to achieve just short of £12,000 for the charity.

Staff members did it with a year-long fund-raising brief that included a fashion show, a race night, sponsored walk and a will writing scheme plus the promise that staff members taking on any individual sponsored challenges would also turn out for Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

Antonia Love, partner at Farleys, said: “As a firm, Farleys has been a proud Rosemere supporter since 2006. Between then and 2017, we raised more than £13,000 for the charity but decided to up our efforts in support of Rosemere’s 20 Years Anniversary Appeal. We set ourselves what we thought was a very ambitious target but are delighted to have exceeded it.

Cathy Skidmore, Rosemere Cancer Foundation’s trust and corporate fund-raising manager, said: “We are immensely grateful to Farleys and everyone connected with the company for this terrific donation to our 20 Years Anniversary Appeal, which for some patients will revolutionise treatment.”

Meanwhile, Robins and Day, based in Blackpool Road, Preston, smashed its £2,000 target and has pledged to support the charity for a second year.

The team raised £2,679 by hosting a classic car show, making a donation on cars sold, organising a prize draw and sponsoring a staff team to cycle 170 miles coast to coast across the country.

Cathy Skidmore added: “We would like to thank all staff and customers of Robins and Day for this turbo charged effort and for the company’s pledge of further support.

“The money it has raised for our 20 Years Anniversary Appeal has already helped to make a tremendous difference to the treatment some patients at the cancer centre have been able to receive and its continued support will help us to ensure that more local cancer patients can benefit from future improvements to treatments and services.”
